Following extensive consultations across the Arewa region and a rigorous due diligence process, the Arewa Movement for Actionable Change has officially endorsed Chief Charles Obada as its preferred candidate for the presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the forthcoming general elections.
The Movement arrived at this decision after a thorough examination of Chief Obada’s vision and mission, which articulate a bold, pragmatic and people-centred agenda aimed at addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges. His commitment to economic revitalisation, security enhancement, youth empowerment, infrastructural development, and national cohesion demonstrates the leadership qualities urgently needed to reposition Nigeria on the path of sustainable progress and inclusive growth.
The Arewa Movement for Actionable Change firmly rejects the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s adoption of a consensus candidate, specifically the imposition of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the sole presidential flag bearer. This arrangement, in our considered view, represents a significant distortion of democratic norms and internal party democracy. It effectively shuts the door against other qualified, visionary, and well-meaning Nigerians who possess the capacity and integrity to offer credible alternatives and contest freely for the highest office in the land.
Such undemocratic practices undermine the spirit of competitive politics, weaken public trust in the electoral process, and limit the electorate’s right to choose from a diverse pool of competent leaders. True democracy thrives on open competition, transparency, and equal opportunity for all aspirants, not on imposed consensus that stifles broader participation.
The Arewa Movement for Actionable Change therefore calls on all patriotic Nigerians, particularly stakeholders in the northern region, to rally behind Chief Charles Obada’s candidature. We believe his leadership will foster unity, deliver tangible development, and restore confidence in governance.
The Movement remains committed to actionable change and will continue to mobilise support for a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous Nigeria.
