Mutfwang Inaugurates APC 2027 Campaign Council, Seeks Renewed Mandate for Tinubu, Plateau Candidates

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Campaign Council, calling on party members and stakeholders to unite and mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and all APC candidates in the state.

Mutfwang inaugurated the council on Monday, November 2, 2026, at the Government House, Rayfield, Jos, where he charged members to embark on a disciplined, peaceful and issue-based campaign anchored on the achievements and programmes of the APC-led governments.

The Governor expressed appreciation to Plateau residents for their support, noting that although his administration had recorded progress in critical sectors, more work remained to be done, making continuity necessary to consolidate ongoing projects and development initiatives.

He urged campaign council members to take the administration’s message to communities across the state, stressing that electoral victories were determined at the grassroots and that members must return to their respective wards, constituencies and local government areas to mobilise voters.

On security, Mutfwang acknowledged the challenges confronting the state but assured residents of sustained efforts to protect lives and property. He disclosed that plans were underway to facilitate the return of internally displaced persons to their communities, alongside the deployment of at least 800 trained forest guards to strengthen security in vulnerable areas.

The Governor also highlighted interventions introduced to cushion economic hardship, including Tin City Metro buses, the revival of rail services within the metropolis, a 50 per cent reduction in tuition fees in state-owned tertiary institutions and a 300 per cent increase in student allowances.

He further called for unity among APC stakeholders, urging members to demonstrate humility, avoid political divisions and conduct campaigns with respect for opposing interests.

Speaking at the inauguration, Plateau State APC Chairman, Hon. Rufus Bature, described the exercise as an important step towards building a coordinated political structure for the 2027 general elections.

Bature emphasised the need for grassroots organisation, loyalty, effective communication and accountability, noting that the party’s electoral success would depend largely on the commitment of its members and the strength of its structures across polling units.

He urged appointed council members to take their responsibilities seriously, work diligently and avoid complacency, adding that the party remained open to accommodating more stakeholders as preparations progressed.

Also speaking, the Director General of the Tinubu/Mutfwang 2027 Campaign Council, Sir Joseph Ari, pledged that the council would approach its assignment with dedication, discipline, teamwork and a strong sense of responsibility.

Ari, who spoke on behalf of the campaign council committee, expressed gratitude to Governor Mutfwang for the confidence reposed in its members, assuring that the campaign would be inclusive, factual, issue-based and devoid of bitterness or acrimony.

He disclosed that the council had received expressions of support from 115 support groups, alongside solidarity visits and assurances from traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, youths and other organised groups.

According to him, the campaign would prioritise unity, peaceful coexistence and constructive engagement with communities across the state, while ensuring that all stakeholders work collectively towards the party’s objectives.

Ari also called on Plateau residents and APC supporters to turn out en masse on November 14, 2026, to welcome President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and other national party leaders during their scheduled visit to the state.

The inauguration marks the commencement of coordinated political mobilisation by the APC in Plateau State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
